The new tale is placed within the canon of the franchise.
An absence of exclusive titles is one of the primary reasons why it has been challenging to promote the $500 Quest 3 VR headset over the $200 Quest 2 VR headset. This is because the majority of games are designed to support both versions. Therefore, we have not yet witnessed the full extent of the power that the Quest 3 possesses, but the tides are beginning to turn. A new game called Batman: Arkham Shadow has just been released by Meta, and it is completely exclusive to the company’s most recent headgear.
Rocksteady Studios, the company that oversees the Arkham franchise, is not responsible for the development of this game, despite the fact that it appears to be set in the Arkham universe that already exists. It is being developed by Oculus Studios in collaboration with Camouflaj, the same company that was responsible for the shockingly impressive Iron Man virtual reality experience. Although the track record of other developers who have participated in Rocksteady’s sandbox is not particularly impressive, the fact that Camouflaj is included in the game gives me reason to be cautiously optimistic.
As you can see up above, there is a trailer for the game, but it does not contain any gameplay footage. In order to accomplish that, Geoff Keighley has informed us that we will have to wait until the Summer Game Fest in June. The teaser does allude to the existence of Ratcatcher, a member of Batman’s rogues gallery who is not particularly well-known. In order to perpetrate crimes, he manipulates rats. There is a whole lot of it.
When Batman wore a virtual reality headset, it wasn’t the first time he did so. Batman: Arkham VR was initially launched by Rocksteady in the year 2016. Not only was the game acclaimed for its immersive nature, but it was also criticized for being only one hour lengthy. Despite the fact that I enjoy short virtual reality experiences that are executed exceptionally well, I am hoping that this one is a little bit longer. To stroll around the home like a complete idiot while wearing a headset on my face is a waste of time because there is only so much time.
Despite the fact that this is without a doubt the most prominent Quest 3 exclusive, it is not the first for which it has been announced. Starship Home is a mixed-reality adventure that appears to have been designed to be unique to the Vision Pro and should have been released only for that device. The horror-themed Alien: Rogue Incursion is not quite a Quest 3 exclusive because it will also be released on Steam and PSVR2, but it is a “next-gen” virtual reality game that does not require the outdated Quest 2 to function properly. There will be a release of all three titles before the year comes to a close.
