A number of things are included in the data, such as information about projects that have not yet been made public, computer code, and a conversation regarding interview candidates.
It was reported on Monday by the Wall Street Journal that a hacking organization was responsible for the disclosure of more than a terabyte of classified information from more than 10,000 Slack channels that belonged to Disney. A variety of topics, including discussions about advertising campaigns, computer code, information about projects that have not yet been revealed, and discussions about interview candidates, are among the information that has been leaked. According to a spokeswoman for the corporation, “Disney is investigating this matter,” as reported by the Journal.
The group known as Nullbulge describes itself as a hacktivist organization that fights for the rights of artists. The Journal was informed by a spokeswoman for the organization that it had targeted Disney because of concerns regarding the manner in which the firm handles artist contracts and its approach to generative artificial intelligence. Over the course of several weeks, the gang spread rumors about its access to Disney’s Slack by posting pieces of classified information on X. These snippets included attendance numbers for Disneyland parks. Nullbulge disclosed to the Journal that it had gained access to confidential information belonging to Disney by hacking the computer of an employee on two separate occasions. One of these instances involved the use of malicious software that was concealed within a videogame add-on.
Generative artificial intelligence has been a source of contention for more than a year between the businesses that develop and employ the technology and members of the creative community who have accused corporations of exploiting their work to train AI models without having their approval or providing them with remuneration.
