According to Mark Zuckerberg, it might be Meta’s next app with a billion users.

Since February, the number of people using the Threads app on Meta has increased by over 20 million, bringing the total number of monthly users to almost 150 million. The most recent user counts were disclosed by Mark Zuckerberg during the earnings call for the first quarter of the year for Meta. He stated that the application “continues to be on the trajectory that I hope to see.”

Despite the fact that it is expanding at a slower rate than its first spectacular expansion, the report indicates that Threads is continuing to grow gradually. More than one hundred million downloads were made in the first week of the app’s release, but after that, there was a decline in the amount of engagement. However, over the course of the past half year, Threads has shown more constant growth, and Zuckerberg has suggested that the service may have the potential to become Meta’s next product to reach one billion users.

Importantly, Threads appears to be operating better than X (which was once known as Twitter) according to certain measures. According to a report that was published earlier this week by Business Insider, estimates presented by the analytics company Apptopia revealed that Threads has more daily users in the United States than X. (X has asserted that it has 550 million daily users across the world.) In addition, Threads just achieved yet another big victory when Taylor Swift joined the platform in order to promote her most recent album through it.

In comparison to the other apps that Meta offers, Threads is currently the only one that does not contain any advertisements; hence, the firm does not directly profit from the app. On the condition that Threads continues to broaden its scope, this will most certainly change at some point in the future. A previous statement made by Zuckerberg indicated that the firm will “focus on monetization” only if the app had reached a suitable level of growth.
