Meta Lowers the Price of Quest 2 Permanently; It Now Starts at $249.99 – technology

At last, the retail launch price of the Quest 2 has been reduced.

The long-awaited Quest 3 virtual reality headset was finally introduced by Meta this past fall, but it is a pricey item that costs $500. For the holidays, the headset from the previous generation has been on sale, and Meta has made the decision to keep the price at that level permanently. For a price as low as $249.99, you can purchase a Meta Quest 2 either right now or at some point in the future. Now that it is $50 less than it was previously, it is now below the price at which it was initially offered.

Meta’s virtual reality (VR) devices have displayed pricing that is remarkably changeable. It was nearly difficult to get The Quest 2 at retail for several months after it was released in the year 2020. This was due to the fact that it was such a huge success during the pandemic year. At the time of its launch, the device was priced at $299.99 for the 128GB version and $399.99 for the 256GB version (which was later reduced to $349). However, in 2022, Meta announced that the price of both models will increase by $100.

In light of the fact that the Quest 3 is now Meta’s main virtual reality headset, the company decided to lower the price of the Quest 2 for Black Friday, and it has not changed it back since. In the new permanent pricing structure for the Quest 2, the 128GB model costs $249.99, while the 256GB model costs $299.99. When compared to the Quest 3, the Quest 2 is a little bit more cumbersome and the lens adjustments are more restricted. Additionally, it does not support color passthrough video, has a slower processor, and has less RAM.

Meta is offering discounts on a number of accessories that are only compatible with the Quest 2 in addition to the headsets that are more affordable:

This Quest 2 Elite Strap with battery is just $89.99, down from $119.99.

$49.99 (down from $59.99) for the Quest 2 Elite Strap

$44.99 (down from $59.99) for the Quest 2 Carrying Case

$59.99 for the Quest 2 Active Pack, down from $69.99

From $49.99, the Quest 2 Fit Pack is now only $39.99.

Meta is also lowering the price of its refurbished headsets, which is a good option for those who do not require a brand-new headset. The refurbished 128GB headset can be purchased for $229.99, while the refurbished 256GB headset can be purchased for $269.99. However, spending an additional twenty to thirty dollars to acquire a new device is usually worth it.

The Meta Quest Pro, which is still available for purchase at a retail price of $1,000 despite a price reduction of $500, is unquestionably not worth the money. In the end, Meta’s metaverse-first headset, which had complete face and head tracking, was not successful, and it is possible that there will not be a sequel. There are some of the capabilities that were included in the Quest Pro that have been incorporated into the new Quest 3, such as camera tracking for controllers, improved lens adjustment, and full-color passthrough video. If Meta is able to bear the thought of losing any more money on the product, the Quest Pro might be the next product to have a price reduction. This is assuming that the Quest 3 has received positive feedback.
