Adam Mosseri said on Threads that everyone will soon be able to use the tool.
A greater degree of control is being granted to users of Threads over who can cite their contributions (that is, reposting with discussion). You now have the option to restrict the ability to quote your posts to only those individuals that you follow, which is useful if you do not want anyone to be able to do so. It is also possible for you to make it so that no one can quote any of your posts. This weekend, Instagram’s Head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, made the announcement of the modification, expressing his hope that it will “help keep Threads a more positive place overall.” In the past month, the platform conducted a test of the tool with a select set of Threads users; however, it is now being made available to all users.
Threads, which currently has more than 150 million monthly users, has been gradually introducing additional features to better the overall user experience as well as provide a safer environment for its users. Some of these features are borrowed from Instagram. Users are able to identify specific terms that they want to be filtered out of their feeds by using the Hidden Words function, which was introduced by the company within the past month. Recently, Threads has also been exploring several ways for archiving posts, which may be done manually or automatically after a predetermined expiration date have been selected.
