The Xiaomi 14 Ultra smartphone is definitely aimed at professional photographers, according to the firm.
During the Mobile World Congress trade event that took place in Barcelona today, Xiaomi unveiled a daring smartphone that was designed with the intention of catering to the needs of professional photographers. By including a multitude of functions that photographers would find useful, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra smartphone introduces a blurring of the lines between the camera and the phone. A massive sensor measuring one inch in size, a variable aperture on one of its cameras, and lenses manufactured by Leica are some of the features that are included.
As soon as you take a look at this phone, it is immediately apparent that photography plays a significant role in its arsenal. The phone features a massive circular shell on the back that features four cameras. According to Cnet, the primary camera has a resolution of 50 megapixels and a sensor that is one inch in size. This is a relatively large sensor for a mobile phone and enables for a greater amount of light to be caught, which helps reduce noise and works better for low-light shooting. This primary camera has a variable aperture that can be adjusted from f/1.63 to f/4.0 with a focal length that is equivalent to 23 millimeters for full-frame photography. In spite of the fact that it is not evident how the user would modify the focal length, it does add a level of manual control that is not generally seen in consumer smartphones.
In addition to the two telephoto lenses and the ultra-wide lens, the back of the device also contains three more cameras and lenses. These telephotos come with a “floating” 3.2x 75mm focal length lens as well as a “periscope” lens that is 5x 120mm in focal length. Additionally, there is a super-wide 12mm lens as well, which provides the user with a great deal of freedom. The company Xiaomi claims that the mobile device has a total of four cameras, each of which has a focal length that is one of six potential options. Aluminum, which is also used in the construction of the chassis, is said to be exceptionally rigid, according to the manufacturer.
As if all of that weren’t enough, the company also provides a photographic kit that can be purchased separately. The kit is essentially a battery grip that can be attached to the bottom of the phone and gives the impression that the phone is a camera. There are controls that are normally located on the top of a camera that are included in the grip. These controls include buttons for video recording, a physical shutter button, and a dial. It is possible to rouse the phone from sleep mode by pressing the shutter button, and if the phone is active, hitting it once will enable the auto-focus feature, which is similar to how a real camera would traditionally function. A photograph is taken when the shutter button is pressed a second time.
Additionally, there is a zoom lever located around the very bottom of the button, which allows you to zoom in and out in order to swap between lenses. The dial that is included in the package provides exposure adjustment by default, but it may also be adjusted to regulate aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and “other functions.”
Due to the fact that it is exclusively available in the United Kingdom and Europe, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra will not be made available in the United States.
