It would function from within the app on neighboring devices.
It is likely that anyone who enjoys taking and sharing a large number of photographs will concur that AirDrop is an excellent feature; but, the fact that it is exclusive to Apple is a limitation. With this new development, WhatsApp has the potential to compete with it across all devices. It appears that the firm is working on a new update that will enable users to exchange files with other devices that are in close proximity to them, as reported by WABetaInfo.
The new feature that WhatsApp is working on is still in the process of being developed (it has not even reached the Beta testing stage yet), so even though we do not know when it will be ready, we do have a solid general concept of what it will look like. To begin, users will most likely be required to shake their device in order to activate a request, and they will also need to be in close contact to the other individual. In order for the recipient to view and accept the share request, they will first need to open WhatsApp and then shake their smartphone. If you need some background, AirDrop has a range of approximately 30 feet, but we do not know how near the two people will need to be to each other.
When it comes to file sharing, WhatsApp’s security features will be extended to include end-to-end encryption of files, which will most likely consist of images and videos. Whenever users share files with individuals who are not in their contact list, the platform will also ensure that their phone numbers remain confidential. Although a significant portion of this is similar to AirDrop, it is not clear whether files will immediately download to a user’s camera roll or whether Bluetooth alone will be sufficient. The current version of WhatsApp enables users to send up to one hundred photos at once through ordinary messaging; therefore, we will have to wait and see how this function varies from the previous version.
