A software upgrade will be released after launch with features like Recall.
A slew of personal computer manufacturers released their first Copilot+ personal computers on Monday, but they are all powered by Qualcomm technology. Today, Intel spoke with us to reassure us that the Lunar Lake chips, which will be the first processors from the business to enable all of the Copilot+ AI features, will be available in the third quarter of 2024.
More than eighty new laptops from more than twenty different hardware partners will start delivering in time for the holidays, according to Information Technology. Using a software update, the personal computers will be able to incorporate the new Copilot+ features, such as Recall and Cocreator. (The organization did not specify a certain window for those customers.) This year, Intel anticipates shipping more than 40 million artificial intelligence (AI) personal computer chips. These chips will incorporate an integrated neural processing unit (NPU) for generative AI enhancements.
In addition to enabling over 40 trillion NPU operations per second (TOPS), the chipmaker claims that Lunar Lake will have artificial intelligence performance that is more than three times higher than that of the present Meteor Lake versions.
In a news statement, the Vice President of Microsoft Windows and Devices, Pavan Davuluri, stated that “the launch of Lunar Lake will bring meaningful fundamental improvements across security, battery life, and more thanks to our deep co-engineering partnership with Intel.” The arrival of Lunar Lake on the market with a 40+ TOPS NPU that will deliver Microsoft’s Copilot+ experiences at scale when they become available is something that we are really enthusiastic about.
