The e-bike, which debuted at CES 2024, can be used to build a strenuous training course or to take you on a sightseeing tour of your city.
By making extensive use of technology, Urtopia has attempted to differentiate its electric bicycles from those of its competitors, and this year, the company has succeeded in doing so. It has just revealed its flagship Fusion model for the very first time in its entirety at CES 2024 (after teasing it earlier this year), and it is fully integrated with none other than ChatGPT, the buzzy artificial intelligence assistant. Following in the footsteps of the company’s prior tech-infused Chord and original Urtopia models is the design of the Fusion.
The Fusion is described by Urtopia as “the world’s first dual battery, dual motor ebike by design visionary Hartmut Esslinger,” which is a rather precise claim. The normal model is constructed out of carbon fiber, which helps to reduce weight, while the premium CVT version is equipped with an Enviolo stepless shifter. The Shimano CUES derailleur is used on the regular model. There is a range of 120 kilometers (75 miles) with the dual 540-watt-hour battery, but with the 360-watt-hour battery extender, that range is increased to 200 kilometers (124 miles). This is sufficient to go almost 20 times from north to south through Paris.
The 95Nm mid-drive motor allows it to reach speeds of up to 25 kilometers per hour, and the air suspension fork allows for a travel area of 100 millimeters. The combination of all of these features, along with the relatively low weight (23 kilograms), wide tires, and robust frame, makes it appropriate for riding on trails, off-road, and in downtown areas.
It could be any electric bicycle, but the technology is what makes the Fusion stand out from the crowd. You will be able to stay informed about the whereabouts of the bike even if it is stolen because it is connected by 4G and uses GPS tracking. As with previous models, it also includes a movement alarm, fingerprint unlock, route tracking, navigation without a telephone, and Bluetooth music through an integrated speaker. All of these features are in addition to the standard features.
The new technology is called “Jarvis” and is enabled via a smart ring (the firm did not specify which smart ring it is). This technology allows the user to turn on the bike, play music, or engage ChatGPT, which is another technological function. Additionally, you are able to have a direct conversation using ChatGPT by utilizing the built-in speaker. The response to the question of what ChatGPT is doing on an electric bicycle is that it can assist you in “exploring new routes, getting real-time information, and even engaging in entertaining conversations,” as stated by Urtopia. This is a reasonable question to ask.
We are unsure of how helpful a conversation assistant is when you are trying to avoid traffic at 25 kilometers per hour, but it could at least keep you company on a route that is otherwise empty. Furthermore, it is a very solid marketing gimmick that the company is employing to differentiate itself from the numerous other electric bicycles that are now available on the market. While the Fusion will be priced at €3,999 (about $4,375), the Fusion CVT will be priced at a hefty €4,999 ($5,467). Buyers will need to be rather well off in order to purchase either of these vehicles. There is currently no information regarding when it will be available for purchase or whether it will be brought to the United States.
