On the other hand, General Motors does not intend to provide the new charging adapters at no cost.

Beginning today, General Motors will begin selling DC adapters that are certified by the North American Charging Standard (NACS) for its electric vehicles. The General Motors company made the first announcement that it will accept Tesla’s NACS connector fifteen months ago; nevertheless, it has taken them until today to produce adapters available for purchase. This new adaptor will be compatible with vehicles manufactured by Chevrolet, Cadillac, and GMC, among other brands.

Due to the fact that they were equipped with a distinct proprietary charging outlet, GM electric vehicles were not compatible with Tesla Superchargers in the past. Anyone who has one of these electric vehicles can use the mobile app for your vehicle brand to acquire an adapter for a price of $225. Additionally, users can use the app to identify the Supercharger station that is closest to them.

Customers in the United States will be the first to have access to these NACS DC converters, while those in Canada who own electric vehicles will have to wait until later this year. In the future, General Motors vehicles will be equipped with NACS DC adapters, which means that future owners will not be required to pay an additional $225 for the capability to recharge their vehicles. To guarantee that all owners of GM electric vehicles are able to charge their vehicles, the business is collaborating with a number of different suppliers to offer sufficient adapters for everyone.

At the beginning of this year, owners of Ford electric vehicles began having the ability to charge their vehicles at Superchargers operated by Tesla. During the previous year, Subaru, Hyundai, and virtually every other major automaker in the United States made announcements that were comparable to these. According to a story from Forbes, the fact that it took General Motors well over a year to release adapters could be perhaps attributed to the fact that Tesla terminated its entire Supercharger staff in April.
