The current price for US purchasers is $8,000.

A pricing cut has been implemented by Tesla for its Full Self-Driving software in both the United States and Canada. A post made by the firm on X indicates that the so-called Full Self-Driving (FSD) Capability may now be added to a vehicle for a price of $8,000 in the United States of America (or $11,000 for purchasers in Canada). As reported by Electrek, this is a decrease from the previous price of $12,000 ($16,000 CAD). Additionally, the publication adds that Tesla has removed the $6,000 Enhanced Autopilot option. This package is available for current owners, who can upgrade to FSD for a fee of $2,000.

Over the course of several years, regulators have been examining the driver assistance systems that Tesla has developed. Despite its name, Full Self-Driving is not intended to completely replace a human driver at this point in time. There is a statement made by Tesla on its website stating that the existing FSD features “require active driver supervision and do not make the vehicle autonomous.” According to reports, the corporation implemented a policy in March that requires its employees to provide buyers with a demonstration of FSD before they are allowed to take their new automobiles home. This is done so that the buyers can get a better understanding of what the software has to offer.

Several days ago, Tesla reduced the monthly cost of its subscription for FSD, which it has recently been calling to as Full Self-Driving (Supervised). The most recent price reduction comes just a few days after Tesla made this pricing reduction. Previously, the subscription was priced at $199 per month; however, it is currently available for $99 per month. Additionally, Tesla reduced the beginning pricing of its Model Y, X, and S automobiles by a total of $2,000 over the course of this weekend. There was a reduction of eight percent year-over-year in the number of vehicles that Tesla delivered during the first quarter of 2024, according to a report that was released earlier this month by Tesla.
