Qualcomm is introducing its most recent central processing unit (CPU) to mobile devices, following its success in laptops.

Yet another year, and yet another flagship smartphone chip from Qualcomm… However, it has been stated that things are a little bit different with the Snapdragon 8 Elite, which is the most recent product from the firm and is destined for premium handsets. According to a slide that was stolen from Videocardz, it is using the Oryon central processing unit, which was first introduced in X Elite chips to be used in laptops the previous year. Additionally, it is utilizing a brand new 3nm process node, as opposed to the 4nm node that was utilized the previous year. Because of this, the Snapdragon 8 Elite is able to deliver single-core and multi-core performance that is 45 percent faster than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 while also consuming 27 percent less power.

There is still a great deal that we can learn from that one slide that was leaked, despite the fact that we are still waiting for additional information regarding the Snapdragon 8 Elite to be presented at Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit later today. As anticipated, the company is increasing its focus on its generative artificial intelligence capabilities. The company has introduced a neural processing unit (NPU) that is 45 percent quicker than it was previously, and gaming performance will also see a 40 percent improvement. It has been reported by Videocardz that the 8 Elite will be capable of reaching a maximum speed of 4.32 GHz across two cores, and it will be able to achieve up to 3.53 GHz in six smaller cores.

We were really impressed with the Snapdragon X Elite that was found in the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop Copilot+ personal computers. Therefore, it would not come as a huge surprise if the Oryon central processing unit was found to perform well on smartphones. Early benchmarks of the Snapdragon 8 Elite show that it scored 3,025,991 in Antutu, which is significantly higher than the best score of approximately 2.1 million that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 achieved. This information comes from Smartprix and Onleaks.
