You play as a lost creature attempting to find its way back to its human companion in this charming independent game.
When a game that has attracted people’s attention has been brought to light, it is always a pleasant surprise to learn when it will be released. In past game showcases, we have seen a few glimpses of Schim, which is a puzzle platformer that is rather appealing. During Nintendo’s Indie World live taking place on Wednesday, it was revealed that the game will be available on the Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox, and personal computers on July 18. The makers claim that it will also function without any problems on Steam Deck.
In this game, you will assume the role of a schim, which is a creature that resembles a frog that is connected to a person but becomes estranged from them. You will have to leap from one shadow to the next in order to achieve your goal of returning to your person. A forklift that activates to grant your character access to a new area horizontally and pulling back on a sign to propel yourself farther forward are two examples of the creative ways in which Schim appears to play around with light and shadows.
Schim employs an abstract art style, which, with any luck, has the potential to lend itself to gameplay that is reasonably tough. In addition, the game’s developers, Ewoud van der Werf and Nils Slijkerman, who have been working on the game for a period of four years, have stated that short stories would be included in each level. It is something that I am looking forward to.
