Both prescription and over-the-counter medications are trackable.
With the app update later this week, Samsung is slated to roll out its new medication monitoring function in the US. With this tool, you can set up alerts to remind yourself when to take your meds and receive reminders when to ask your doctor for refills.
The tool, which competes with the likes of GoodRx and Apple’s Medication app, will give you an overview of a drug’s use and possible side effects, including warnings about potential contraindications. When you enter a new medication into the app, you can log the shape and color of the pill, information about your prescribed dosage, and the time you are scheduled to take the medication. Samsung claims the information found within the app is backed by evidence-based content licensed from Elsevier, a publishing company that specializes in medical content.
When the new medication monitoring function launches, you will need to upgrade your Samsung Health app to version 6.26 or later and have a smartphone running at least Android 8.0. Depending on your device, the feature may not be available on all of them.
