Additionally, an iOS and Android app for digital Pokémon trading cards is on the way.
On Tuesday, The Pokémon Company announced the most recent installment in the “Legends” series as part of the commemoration of Pokémon Day, which commemorates the day that the original Pokémon games were released on February 27, 1996. Lumiose City, which was one of the regions in Pokémon X and Y on the Nintendo 3DS, is visited once again in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, which brings the franchise back to its original location. In the year 2025, the game will be available for the Nintendo Switch.
Despite the fact that Game Freak is responsible for its development, the trailer and press materials for Pokémon Legends: Z-A only offer a limited look of the subsequent game. It is described as “an exciting new adventure” and “an ambitious new entry” by the Pokémon Company, which is attempting to reclaim the story from its off-brand cousin, Palworld, which is known for its guns-blazing gameplay. (That rapidly expanding title has already caught the attention of the legal staff at The Pokémon Company.)
An urban reconstruction plan in an unknown metropolitan area is hinted at in the teaser, which ultimately reveals the location to be Lumiose City. One of the goals of a restoration project that is taking place within the game world is to make it possible for people and Pokémon to coexist in the expansive urban area. The trailer even makes a passing reference to Mega Evolutions, which were first featured in Pokémon X and Y.
Despite the fact that it is mostly an extended teaser, the Pokémon Legends: Z-A trailer that can be found below does not include any gameplay footage. Additionally, the pictures of Lumiose City that are shown in the clip are wireframe models, which suggests that the game is incomplete (or at the very least not yet complete). When the game is released the following year, it will be released simultaneously all over the world.
A new digital trading card game was also revealed on Pokémon Day, which was celebrated by the company. The Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket is a brand new mobile application that will be available for both Android and iOS later on in this year. It will provide players the opportunity to “enjoy the thrill of opening booster packs and collecting cards,” which will contain “immersive cards” and visual effects that are exclusive to the app (in addition to classic artwork). The teaser for the application features an enticing tearing animation that occurs when the digital packets are “opened” (something that is sure to get you hooked!).
Participants who use the application will be given two free booster packs on a daily basis. There has been no formal announcement made by the firm regarding the availability of additional packs that may be purchased within the app. On the other hand, the Pokémon Company’s use of the phrase “free-to-start” to describe the application might offer some insight into the company’s future ambitions. Through the use of simplified rules that are derived from the card game’s battle system, the application will be able to facilitate trades and “quick battles.”
