That will basically be Windows 12, based on the most recent report.

Microsoft has reportedly been planning to release a new version of Windows in the year 2024, according to numerous reports. It is anticipated that Microsoft’s next operating system will be the company’s first attempt to integrate all of its breakthroughs in generative artificial intelligence from the very beginning. This means that it will arrive with AI integrated throughout, as opposed to being a kind of add-on like it is in the present version of Windows. The release of this operating system will coincide with the introduction of artificial intelligence personal computers to the market. This will make the year 2024 the year that AI will take control of our computers, whether for the better or for the worse.

At this moment, it is not apparent whether the next edition of Windows will incorporate the number 12 or just be referred to as 24H2 in order to adhere to the naming method that has been utilized for the most recent Windows updates. According to a new report from Windows Central, regardless of the outcome, it will be a significant update for the operating system, and it will be an altogether new version of the Windows infrastructure. By putting an emphasis on artificial intelligence, this massive update will fundamentally alter the user experience. With this new version of Windows pre-loaded, the first wave of AI personal computers are anticipated to arrive in June. The public distribution of the new version of Windows is scheduled to take place in September for individuals who wish to update.

The next version of Windows will be designed for personal computers that have central processing units (CPUs) that are equipped with a neural processing unit (NPU). The new buzzword in the central processing unit industry is a neural processing unit (NPU), which is offered by both AMD and Intel in their most recent chips. Intel’s Core Ultra line and AMD’s 8000 series are both available for mobile and desktop processing. As a dedicated piece of hardware for artificial intelligence and machine learning, an NPU is analogous to Apple’s neural engine, which made its debut in 2017 with the A11 Bionic for iPhone. According to reports, Microsoft has already set the minimal specifications for what constitutes an artificial intelligence personal computer. These specifications include the natural processing unit (NPU) being able to achieve 40 TOPS, which is equivalent to trillions of operations per second.

With regard to modifications to the operating system, Microsoft is going to move the dedicated Copilot button from its current location next to the search bar to the far right corner of the taskbar at some point in the near future. In addition to that, it will implement the capability to activate Copilot automatically on personal computers that have widescreen monitors. There is also a more sophisticated version of Copilot for search that Microsoft is working on. This version will allow you to rapidly locate any document, web page, image, or application that you have previously viewed.

Additionally, Microsoft will be adding the option to install Windows without drivers, which can be toggled on or off. This is another new feature that will be of interest to those who build personal computers from scratch. This will make it possible to install a clean build without any superfluous drivers creating problems, which will be a significant benefit. When we talk about clean builds, we should mention that it will also be eliminating Cortana, Mail, Calendar, Maps, People, and Movies & TV. Furthermore, WordPad is going to be discontinued in the not too distant future as well.
