Both concept cars have absurd silhouettes and the new Honda logo.
While at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 this week, Honda displayed two early concept automobiles for the upcoming Honda 0 series. Together, the fully-electric Saloon and Space-Hub concepts represent a bigger push towards electrification within Honda as well as a rebranding campaign that will differentiate the electric vehicles produced by the Japanese carmaker from its gasoline-powered vehicles.
It is a typical sports vehicle that has been stung by a bee, and the Honda 0 Saloon (above, which is named after a British English term for “sedan”) has the appearance of being sleek and somewhat inflated at the same time. This design appears to have a puffy appearance from its front end to its wheel wells; yet, when you reach to its trunk section, you will notice that it embraces tighter angles while seemingly abandoning the trunk. We are speculating that Honda has placed all of the storage capacity for the Saloon in the trunk; but, given that this is just a concept, there is a possibility that it does not have any storage room that is actually useful.
The Honda 0 Space-Hub is a vehicle that has abandoned the “sleek” label in favour of a more bulbous appearance. This van-like vehicle has a very spacious interior and bench seating that is arranged in a face-to-face configuration. The upper half of the cabin is covered by enormous expanses of glass, while the lower part of the cabin is surrounded by ambient lighting. This allows the passengers to drink in the great outdoors (or, you know, Los Angeles traffic) as they are travelling.
The Consumer Electronics Show gives Honda the opportunity to launch its new H mark. It is stated by Honda that the insignia was intended to be “like two outstretched hands,” which is a representation of the brand’s “commitment to augment the possibilities of mobility.” In spite of the fact that Honda’s gas-powered vehicles will continue to display the logo that we have all come to recognise, which has been there for 43 years, the automaker’s “next-generation” electric vehicles will utilise the redesigned H mark.
The upcoming lineup of electric vehicles is intended to elevate Honda’s standing in comparison to other automobile manufacturers who are adopting electrification. Additionally, Honda does not sell any new totally electric vehicles, despite the fact that the Prologue is scheduled to be released at some point this year. Previous attempts at developing electric vehicles failed before they could fully catch on. Late in the previous year, Honda made a veiled reference to the possibility of reintroducing the Prelude as a hybrid vehicle; nonetheless, the concept continues to remain at the demonstration stage.
Although Honda has not disclosed which of its concepts would be embodied by the first release of the Honda 0 series car, it is anticipated that the vehicle will be available for purchase in North America sometime in the year 2026. Due to the fact that it has not disclosed any pricing information for the new line, it is difficult to determine whether or not any electric vehicles will be available to an extensive number of new car purchasers.
