    Google Chrome on Android now reads webpages audibly – technology

    The “Listen to this page” function provides playback controls that are similar to those of a podcast.

    In a support document that was discovered by 9to5Google, Google announced that Chrome for Android now includes a new function called “Listen to this page” that enables users to read a webpage out loud from within the application of Chrome. This long-awaited addition ought help make the application more accessible and make it simpler to listen to web pages even when you are engaged in anything else.

    “Listen to this page” is a function that is not supported by all websites; nevertheless, if it is supported by a website, you will find it in the menu that has three dots in the top right corner of the Chrome app. In addition to allowing you to play, pause, scrub, alter playback speed, and skip ahead or behind by ten seconds, the new function provides controls that are similar to those found in podcasts. Languages such as English, French, German, Arabic, Hindu, and Spanish are all supported at this time.

    There are also possibilities for different voices in each language, including four in the United States and two in the United Kingdom, in addition to text highlighting. The control bar will remain docked even if you open other pages, and playing will proceed even if you lock your screen while Chrome is in the forefront.

    It is possible that the new feature will take some time to appear in your region of the world because it is being developed as part of Chrome 125 and is being released progressively. The ability to read web pages out loud has been available to Google Assistant for quite some time now; nevertheless, the new function adds yet another method of doing this task.
