Finally, Ryan Reynolds-backed Mint Mobile is owned by T-Mobile – technology

T-Mobile reports that Mint will continue to sell its 5GB plan for $15 per month.

When T-Mobile made the announcement that it would purchase Mint Mobile for a price of up to $1.35 billion, it took more than a year to complete the transaction. The Un-Carrier will not only acquire Mint as a result of its acquisition of the parent company Ka’ena Corporation, but it will also acquire Plum, a wholesale wireless provider, and Ultra Mobile, a prepaid operator catering to foreign customers. T-Mobile has also committed to maintaining Mint Mobile’s $15 per month/5GB service, which is among the most affordable options available in the United States.

Approximately twenty to twenty-five percent of the corporation is reported to be owned by Ryan Reynolds, who is a supporter of Mint Mobile. Although the purchase was announced in March of 2023, the FCC did not give its approval to the transaction until just this past week. The Mint brand will continue to be managed independently, with Reynolds serving as the brand’s pitchman. Additionally, the company’s founders, David Glickman and Rizwan Kassim, will join T-Mobile to serve as brand guides.

One of the limitations of the $15 plan offered by Mint Mobile is that in order to obtain that rate, you must first pay for three months at the beginning of the plan, and then you must pay for a complete year in order to keep it ($180 in total). T-Mobile is providing “unlimited” data for the first ten months of service, which is actually forty gigabytes with throttling on. In addition, customers will receive unlimited speak and text in Canada, in addition to three gigabytes of data for roaming.

One of Mint’s competitors is T-Mobile, which offers a plan that is essentially similar to Mint’s but has a hard cap of 5GB. Another competitor is AT&T, which offers 15GB for $25, which includes 10GB of hotspot Internet usage. The latter requires an initial payment in addition to a contract that is valid for one year.
