In addition to this, they accuse him of utilizing sexual pictures, memes, and other forms of discriminatory remarks while he was at work.
Elon Musk was accused of sexual harassment and retaliation by eight former SpaceX engineers who filed a lawsuit against him on Wednesday. The case was filed against Musk. The same group of employees who were terminated from their positions have also lodged complaints with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) of the United States on the alleged retaliation by SpaceX. According to Bloomberg, the case was originally reported.
In the filing that was submitted on Wednesday, eight former employees said that Musk had “knowingly and purposefully created an unwelcome hostile work environment based upon his conduct of interjecting into the workplace vile sexual photographs, memes, and commentary that demeaned women and/or the LGBTQ+ community.”
According to the former SpaceX engineers, some of them were harassed by other coworkers who “mimicked Musk’s posts.” This is an alleged instance of mob bullying that occurred as a result of the actions of their superior. In their letter, the plaintiffs stated that this “created a wildly uncomfortable hostile work environment.”
Within the year 2022, the group collaborated on the writing of an open letter that brought attention to the suspected problematic behavior of the Tesla founder. According to them, they were terminated as a result of the essay they wrote.
According to Bloomberg, the filing indicates that the former SpaceX engineers had grounds to think that Musk made the decision to terminate them as a form of retaliation for the letter that they had written. When a SpaceX human resources representative urged that the firm complete a formal inquiry before taking any definitive action, Musk allegedly responded by saying, “I don’t care — fire them.” This is according to the lawsuit.
An injunction issued by an appeals court has prevented the National Labor Relations Board from taking action against the engineers, despite the fact that the board has agreed that SpaceX unfairly retaliated against them. In January, SpaceX filed a lawsuit against the agency, claiming that its structure was “unconstitutional.”
A report that was published on Tuesday detailed allegations that Musk had sexual contact with two female colleagues and requested a third employee to deliver his offspring. The lawsuit was filed in response to the story.
