Terry Matales, the director of Star Trek: Picard and 12 Monkeys, is creating it.
A standalone program for Marvel’s Vision has been given the go-ahead by Disney+, according to Variety’s investigation. It has been reported that Paul Bettany will reprise his role as everyone’s favorite android/synthezoid, and the tale will pick up following the events that occurred in WandaVision. However, we will have to wait a very long time because it will not be available on the streaming platform until the year 2026.
Additionally, this coincides with the recent announcement made by Disney CEO Bob Iger that the company would begin to be significantly more selective with regard to Marvel programming. The plan that is currently being considered is to cut the number of shows presented year from four to two.
Jacqueline Schaeffer, the person who was responsible for the creation of WandaVision, is not the one in charge of Vision. The responsibility of showrunning falls on Terry Matalas. Additionally, he was the showrunner for the final season of Star Trek: Picard, which was significantly superior to the other seasons of the show. He is responsible for the creation of the criminally undervalued television show 12 Monkeys. Before going on to the next spinoff production of Agatha All Along, Schaeffer was working on an earlier version of the concept.
It is unfortunate for those who are followers of Star Trek that Matalas is present, but it may be excellent news for those who are fans of Marvel. Since the unprecedented popularity of Picard’s final season, fans have been urging Paramount to give the go-ahead to a show that they have been referring to as “Star Trek Legacy” and that will be directed by Matalas. Taking place after the events of the third season of Picard, this would be a continuation that would highlight Seven of Nine from Star Trek: Voyager as well as other characters from the 1990s era of the franchise. Considering that Marvel has recently acquired Matalas, it is quite improbable that this will go place. Taking into consideration the fact that Star Trek: Lower Decks was just recently canceled, it appears that the 90s Trek era is almost completely finished and done with.
