With iOS 18, the next-generation smart assistant is anticipated to launch.
It seems that Apple is getting ready to update Siri in order to incorporate generative artificial intelligence into the smart assistant. Analysts believe that all-new generative artificial intelligence capabilities will be introduced at Apple’s 2024 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) and rolled out via iOS18. This is despite the fact that there have been no formal pronouncements addressing the possibility of Siri receiving a facelift.
During the course of the previous year, there was a steady stream of reports concerning “AppleGPT.” Early in the year 2023, it was reported that Apple has developed a natural language generating system with the intention of reworking Siri. As the technology advanced, the developers initially began testing the system with the Apple TV. They intended to expand their testing to include additional operating systems in the future. After a small amount of time had passed, we were aware of the AppleGPT moniker. According to some reports, AppleGPT does not imitate ChatGPT but can potentially serve as a replacement for the tool. This creates some controversy over the word itself. A few months later, we found out that Apple had allocated a budget of at least one billion dollars in order to catch up to its competitors in the field of generative artificial intelligence. All indications pointed to the imminent arrival of a generative artificial intelligence platform on major Apple devices at that point in time.
We are receiving information from a variety of sources suggesting that such a platform might be coming to the iPhone this year. Data from the industry and Apple’s AI-related job advertisements, of which fifty percent use the phrase “deep learning” in the description, have led analysts to anticipate that the company would release a new version of Siri that is enhanced by generative AI at the World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June. If this happens, the update would most likely be released for the iPhone in the fall, which is the time of year when Apple often reveals its most significant iOS improvements.
An analyst told the Financial Times, “I would be shocked if they did not do a significant AI deal this year because there is an AI arms race going on, and Apple is not going to be on the outside looking in.” Apple is not going to be on the outside looking in.
Siri’s skills have stayed relatively unchanged over the course of the most recent major iOS releases; more than anything else, the intelligent assistant is something you can use to initiate phone calls or toss spoken inquiries at when you are too lazy (or too busy) to Google them. In the meantime, the Google Assistant for Android received a significant update in the form of a Bard update in the previous year. This update enabled beta testers to create messages, social network postings, and other written chores by using simple commands. At this time, the Bard add-on is only accessible to beta testers; however, it is anticipated that it will be made available to all users within the next several months.
