Customers who have purchased the Echo gadget will not be able to display their personal photographs on the home page of the digital assistant.

In the event that you own an Amazon Echo Show 8 Photos model, you should be prepared for advertisements to begin appearing on your device. According to emails that were posted by consumers on Reddit and Threads, and which were initially reported by The Verge, Amazon is going to withdraw its PhotosPlus subscription function, which allowed users to upload and show their own images on the Echo Show 8.

Beginning on September 12, subscriptions to PhotosPlus will be terminated, and on September 23, Amazon will stop providing support for the photo function. Customers who are affected will be required to upload their photographs to Amazon Photos, which has a storage capacity of 25 gigabytes, and acclimate themselves to the presence of advertisements on their home screen.

The feature, which costs $2 a month, enables users to submit their own photos to be shown on the home screen of the Echo Show 8, so transforming the device that is controlled by voice and touch into a digital picture frame. A feature that could be left on indefinitely (or for as long as it could last on its charging battery) was the screen’s ability to rotate the images of the owners every thirty seconds.

The PhotosPlus subscription has been removed from the Amazon website, along with any other references to it. Additionally, the Amazon Echo Show 8 Photos Edition ceased to be available for purchase.

Amazon has experienced a number of significant difficulties with Alexa devices. As of the previous month, the Wall Street Journal reported that Alexa caused Amazon to lose more than $25 billion between the years 2017 and 2021. The elimination of bonuses for Alexa developers is one of the ways that Amazon has attempted to recuperate some of those losses. Additionally, it has been stated that the tech giant is working on an improved version of Alexa that would be referred to as “Remarkable Alexa.” This version may be available for a monthly subscription price.
