To assist with troubleshooting, the AI will examine the video frame by frame and extract information from forums.
In an effort to include generative AI into search, Google has added a new dimension: video. Gemini allows you to upload a video that illustrates the problem you’re trying to solve, and it will then search user forums and other online resources for answers.
For instance, Rose Yao of Google discussed her inability to get the needle to stay on the record while using an old turntable she purchased on stage at I/O 2024. Yao posted a video demonstrating the problem, and Gemini immediately located an explanation explaining how to balance the arm on that specific model.
“Search encompasses much more than merely typing text into a box. Google noted, “You frequently have questions about what you see around you, particularly moving objects. “Searching with video saves you the time and trouble of finding the right words to describe this issue, and you’ll get an AI Overview with steps and resources to troubleshoot.”
You can include text or draw arrows that point to the problem if the video by itself isn’t clear enough to help you figure it out.
With ChatGPT 4o, which OpenAI just unveiled, users may now analyze live video in real time, describe a scene, or even write a song about it. But Google is approaching video from a different angle, concentrating on its Search product for the time being. According to the company, video searching will initially be available to Search Labs US users in English and will eventually be extended to additional regions.
