Like we would not notice the secret wear item!
A person who did not identify themselves asked Gemini, “Do you remember where you saw my glasses?” in a video that was used to demonstrate the capabilities of Google’s new Project Astra experience at the I/O 2024 annual conference. This was an astonishing response from the AI: “Yes, I do. “Your glasses were sitting on a desk close to a red apple,” the person said, despite the fact that the apple was not actually visible at the time the question was posed. On the other hand, these glasses were not your typical assistive vision aid; they featured a camera built right in as well as some kind of visual interface!
The examiner took their glasses in their hands, put them on, and then began to ask the artificial intelligence additional questions regarding the things that they were observing. We were shown some kind of interface that consisted of a waveform that moved to signify that it was listening, and it is evident that the gadget is equipped with a camera that is assisting it in taking in its surroundings. It appeared that the answer that was being read out loud to the wearer was reflected in the subtitles that were displayed on the screen. Consequently, if we are keeping count, that means that there is at least a microphone and speaker aboard, in addition to a processor of some kind and a battery to power the entire thing.
Despite the fact that we only had a fleeting glance of the wearable, there were a few things that were clear from the short seconds that it was visible to us. The frame of the glasses was an uncomplicated black color, and they did not resemble Google Glass in any way. Neither did they appear to be very cumbersome.
During the event known as I/O, it is highly likely that Google will not be ready to officially debut a set of glasses. The wearable’s appearance was barely discussed, and it was only said that Project Astra and the company’s idea of “universal agents” may be implemented in devices such as our phones or glasses. This was the only thing that was mentioned. At this point, we do not have a lot of further information; but, if you have been lamenting the failure of Google Glass or any of the other wearable items that the firm has released, this may give you some optimism.
