You can play as the new main character, Melinoë, on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Players on personal computers can now access the Early Access version of Hades II. Following the completion of a technical test that took place from April 16 to April 29, Supergiant Games announced that Early Access for the “bewitching sequel” would be available “relatively soon after.” A week after the conclusion of the preliminary test, the developer has fulfilled its promise by making the widely anticipated roguelike game available for purchase and play on personal computers for the price of thirty dollars.
The gameplay and ideas of the critically acclaimed initial game from 2020 are expanded upon in Hades II. This particular chapter presents a fresh protagonist, Melinoë, who happens to be the sister of Zagreus, the hero of the initial instalment. The Creative Director, Greg Kasavin, and the Studio Director, Amir Rao, made it clear that in order to appreciate it, you do not need to have played the previous game or have a strong understanding of Greek mythology. On the other hand, the creative team continued to sprinkle “delightful references” for people who are aware of the situation.
A confrontation with a rapscallion that has the ability to control time is at the center of the plot of the sequel. According to Supergiant, “Chronos, the Titan of Time and the wicked father of Hades and his brothers, has escaped his imprisonment in the depths of the Underworld to wage war on Olympus.” Chronos is the father of Hades and his siblings. Can the passage of time itself be halted?
During the previous year, the developers of the game expressed their desire for the early access period of Hades II to contain at least the same amount of material as the initial version did when it was released in beta in 2018. In 2023, the studio stated, “Even though early access inherently means a game is not yet complete, we still want to do everything we can to ensure that Hades II is worth your while as soon as you can play it in any capacity.” This statement was made in reference to the fact that the game was not yet finished.
A thirty dollar purchase is required to play Hades II on Steam or the Epic Store. In the future, the game will be released on consoles; but, for the time being, players on PlayStation and Xbox will have to either wait it out or jump on a personal computer.
