Following a challenging fiscal quarter, Tesla is attempting to improve the appeal of its electric vehicles.
It has just been announced that the cost of a monthly subscription to Tesla’s (sort of) self-driving software has been reduced by fifty percent. The previous standard for the Full Self Driving (Supervised) membership offered by Tesla was $199 per month; however, the new price of $99 per month has been implemented.
The $199 monthly upgrade price was initially implemented by Tesla in 2021, when the company’s autonomous driving system was still in the beta testing phase. Due to the fact that it costs $12,000 to add entire Self Driving (Supervised) – the entire name, every time — to a Tesla outright, it will take ten years for the subscription to lose its worth if it continues at its current rate. It appears that this particular installment plan is a good price when compared to others. For the sake of fairness, the $199 rate was also applicable, which provided drivers with five years before they were subject to fees of $12,000.

Following an unfavorable financial quarter that began in 2024, Tesla is trying everything in its power to make its electric vehicles (and its shares) more appealing consumers. Tesla’s electric vehicle (EV) shipments experienced a year-over-year decline for the first time since the year 2020, and even a large decline when compared to the prior quarter. The number of Tesla vehicles delivered during the first few months of 2024 was eight percent lower than the previous year and twenty percent lower than the final quarter of 2023. Instead of delivering 449,080 electric vehicles in the first quarter of 2024, Tesla only delivered 386,810 units.
A free trial of Full Self Driving (Supervised), which does not render the vehicle autonomous, was made available to Tesla drivers before the end of 2023. This was ostensibly done in an effort to bolster the company’s financial line before the reporting deadline arrived. Salespeople for Tesla in North America are expected to provide a demonstration of Full Self Driving (Supervised) to any customer who is interested in purchasing a vehicle beginning in March 2024. One thousand dollars was added to the price of each and every Model Y automobile on April 1.
Shipment data for the Cybertruck, which began being distributed toward the end of the previous year, have not been disclosed by Tesla. Twenty-five years from now, the business is planning to launch a “next-generation low-cost” electric vehicle. It is likely.
