All Pixy owners who return the device will receive a reimbursement from the company.
The business Snap and the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) have announced that they are recalling all of its Pixy drones due to the fact that there have been four instances of the batteries of these drones overheating. All drone owners who return the equipment will be eligible for a refund, according to the company of the drone.
“Snap, in collaboration with the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, is recalling the battery that comes with the Pixy Flying Camera because the battery has the potential to overheat, which poses a risk of fire,” the firm notes on its website. CPSC reports that there has been one “minor” fire and one “minor” injury that can be attributed to problems with the batteries.
On its website, the company provides comprehensive instructions for returning the flying camera, which must be done without the batteries. Additionally, the company states that all Pixy owners are eligible for a refund of the purchase price, regardless of whether they received the device as a gift or do not have a receipt anymore. Despite the fact that their gadget appears to be functioning normally, Snap recommends that anyone who owns a Pixy drone take part in the recall.
In April 2022, the company that manufactures Snapchat presented the small drone; however, just four months later, the company decided to cancel the project since it was diverting resources away from hardware initiatives. The number of drones that were sold by the firm was never disclosed; nevertheless, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) estimates that approximately 71,000 units are affected by the recall.
