The goal of the new group is to halt the dissemination of resources that encourage child sex exploitation.
Bloomberg reports that Joe Benarroch, the chief of business operations at X, has stated that the company intends to establish a new office in Austin, Texas, for the purpose of establishing a team that will be dedicated to the moderation of material. The corporation intends to engage one hundred full-time personnel for the purpose of establishing a “Trust and Safety center of excellence,” which will largely concentrate on preventing the dissemination of materials that are associated with child sexual exploitation (CSE).
At the end of the previous week, the platform released a blog post regarding its attempts to prevent such materials, adding that it is “determined to make X inhospitable for actors who seek to exploit minors.” On Wednesday, the CEO of X, Linda Yaccarino, is scheduled to testify before Congress in a hearing about child sexual abuse (CSE).
According to Bloomberg, Benarroch was quoted as saying, “X does not have a line of business focused on children; however, it is important that we make these investments to continue preventing offenders from using our platform for any distribution or engagement with content that is related to child sexual abuse.” It has been reported by Bloomberg that the team will also target other content issues, such as “violent posts” and hate speech. Elon Musk focused a significant portion of his first year at X on implementing measures that would transform the platform into a stronghold of “free speech.” He also dismantled the content moderation teams that had been established by Twitter prior to his takeover of the company.
