A complimentary one-year subscription to Perplexity Pro is being offered to the first 100,000 purchasers.

Many issues remained unanswered after the debut of the Rabbit R1 at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), but earlier today, the company finally provided an answer to the topic of whose LLM (large language model) will be responsible for the device’s interaction with us mere mortals. It should come as no surprise that the artificial intelligence provider in question is none other than Perplexity, a startup based in San Francisco that has aspirations of surpassing Google in the field of artificial intelligence. For this reason, it has already garnered funding from companies like as NVIDIA and Jeff Bezos.

Using Rabbit’s orange brick, which costs $199, Perplexity will be able to provide users with the most recent search results without requiring them to subscribe to any service. As a result, the first 100,000 people who purchase an R1 will be eligible to receive a free subscription to Perplexity Pro for a period of one year, which would typically cost $200. File upload capability, a daily capacity of more than 300 complicated queries, and the opportunity to switch to various AI models (GPT-4, Claude 2.1, or Gemini) are all features that are included in this advanced service. However, it is important to note that these features may not necessarily be applicable to the use case of the R1.

    In case you were wondering:

Today we announced that we will use Perplexity as one of our key LLM services for r1 – and r1 still does not require any subscription to benefit from this partnership.

A “Push-to-Talk” button, a scroll wheel, two microphones, a speaker, a rotating camera, and a 2.88-inch touchscreen are some of the features that are included in the Rabbit R1, which was built by Teenage Engineering. We now know that this dedicated device will rely on Perplexity’s real-time search engine in order to perform tasks such as booking rides, finding recipes based on the ingredients you have, identifying people and objects (including items in, for example, your refrigerator), or simply checking facts. These tasks can be accomplished by utilising the Large Action Model (LAM) that this device possesses. You can place a pre-order for the R1 right now, and it will be shipped out in either March or April.
