Beginning in the early years of 2025, a mobile version of the early-access preview will be made available to users.

Plex is undergoing a significant overhaul, which will include a makeover that will feature enhanced navigation and artwork that will command more attention. Over the course of nearly two years, the streaming service has been working on the makeover. In order to standardize the software and make the Plex experience more consistent, simpler, and easier to update across platforms, the team redesigned the applications from the ground up. According to Plex, this has significantly increased the speed at which it develops new features, which means that it should be able to offer new features more effectively.

One of the first things that you might notice is that there is a greater emphasis placed on artwork, particularly on the detail pages of shows and movies, as well as on your own profile and the profile pages for cast and crew. Additionally, you ought to see more title artwork for movies and television shows.

One of the primary motivations behind the redesign is to make it easier for users to use the application. According to Plex, the update makes it easier for beginners to get a handle on things while also making it easier for existing users to navigate the app in a more straightforward manner. Plex users who access their own media will discover that their libraries are located in a tab that is specifically designated for them, while the Watchlist will occupy the most prominent position in the navigation section at the very top of the screen. Additionally, Plex claims that it has simplified the user menu in order to provide fast access to features such as your profile, friends, and viewing history.

Redesigning appears to have been long overdue. At the moment, Plex appears to be a little bit out of date, particularly when compared to other apps such as the Netflix subscription service. Upgrades to the navigation system will be very much appreciated. I am hoping that the download speeds have also been improved because, as things stand, it takes me a lot longer than necessary to download anything from Plex so that I may watch it offline.

Plex is providing users with the opportunity to observe a preview of the redesigned applications in the expectation that they will provide feedback. This is done with the intention of ensuring that everything functions as smoothly as it was meant to across a broad variety of devices and configurations. It is mentioned that there are some functions that are not now available, such as offline support and casting, but it promises that it will update the apps frequently in order to include new functionality.

Beginning today, you will be able to test out the new overall appearance on mobile devices; however, there are only a few sample spaces available on iOS. In addition, Plex intends to provide early access to the redesigned television experience very soon, in advance of a more widespread deployment arriving in the early years of 2025. Please visit the Plex forums for further information if you would want to view the mobile experience that has been upgraded just now.
