Big Fan Games is currently the home of pre-existing titles such as John Wick Hex and Reigns: Game of Thrones, and the company is looking to add additional titles in the near future.
As a company that produces a large number of high-quality games, Devolver Digital is working to bring that same level of excellence to licensed content. Big Fan Games is the name of the new sub-label that the company has just revealed. This sub-label will focus on the creation of independent games that are based on pre-existing intellectual properties.
“a brand new label giving developers license to create original game adaptations using the worlds and characters of iconic film, television, and comic properties,” Big Fan Games is described by Devolver as “a brand new label.” In order to achieve this goal, the team is comprised of seasoned professionals that have previous experience working for organizations like as Disney and Dark Horse Comics.

Today we launch Big Fan ( @BigFanPresents ) – a brand new label giving developers license to create original game adaptations using the worlds and characters of iconic film, television, and comic properties. pic.twitter.com/A6h3IGOk3p
There are already a few games in the label’s repertoire, and they are all based on IPs that have already been established. These titles include John Wick Hex, Hellboy Web of Wyrd, and Reigns: Game of Thrones, among others on the list. Before being transferred to the new label, these games had previously been made available to the public. For example, Reigns: Game of Thrones was released six years ago, yet Devolver was the publisher of the game at the time. In 2019, John Wick Hex was released, and Hellboy Web of Wyrd was made available for purchase in digital stores the previous year.
The statement that was made today does not appear to include any new games; nonetheless, the website of the company currently has a large tab labeled “coming soon,” even though it is currently empty. In the not too distant future, we ought to anticipate some revelations. According to a news release issued by Big Fan Games, the company’s objective is “to cultivate fun and inventive games that stand on their own, rather than serving as marketing tie-ins for other media launches.”
Since the beginning of contemporary gaming, licensed games have been a mixed bag of success and failure. One Superman 64 may be found for every DuckTales you can find. Recent releases, on the other hand, have been met with strong approval. The Star Wars video games developed by Respawn were genuine hits, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge was also a huge success.
Despite the fact that we are unaware of what Devolver and Big Fan Games are working on, we are aware of a few licensed games that are soon to be released. The video game Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will be released by MachineGames on December 9th, and Arkane Lyon is currently hard at work developing a game that is based on Marvel’s Blade.
Big Fan Games’ decision to provide independent game developers with the opportunity to work on licensed titles is something that I personally find to be rather wonderful. In order to achieve this goal, the firm wants any developers who have ideas for a licensed game to get in touch with them. Is there a favorite video game that you have always wished you could re-create, or is there a cult classic movie or book that you would be thrilled to see made into a video game? According to what is written on the studio’s website, “We would love to hear from you.”
