The photos that are generated will have complete rights to commercial profit.

In order to develop an artificial intelligence picture generator that is completely trained on licensed stock images, Getty has formed a partnership with Picsart, which is a popular platform for modifying photographs. The businesses are referring to it as a “responsible, commercially-safe” alternative to the platforms that are currently in development. All commercial rights will be granted to the photographs that are generated by the model, which should alleviate any concerns over the possibility of AI-generated images breaking copyright rules.

The service will only be accessible to Picsart subscribers who have paid for it, and the entire thing is reminiscent of Adobe’s Firefly artificial intelligence model. Additionally, that generator is trained on stock photos, although not only on those images. A recent update to Adobe’s terms of service, which indicated that the company may access and exploit people’s work to train artificial intelligence models, caused customers to express outrage. By the time the reaction began to spread, the corporation had already made the necessary changes to the terms of service.

Picsart and Getty are hoping to avoid any reaction by sticking to officially licensed stock pictures. This will ensure that ordinary Picsart users will not be at risk of having their works taken by the model for the purposes of training and generation. Grant Farhall, Chief Product Officer at Getty Images, noted in a blog post that “it allows creators to bring their visions to life while maintaining the highest standards of commercial safety.”

Regarding individuals who are concerned about the work of professional photographers being appropriated, it appears that Getty is maintaining a level playing field with this particular matter. We attempted to get in touch with the company, and their representative informed us that they are “compensating creators included in the dataset on an annual basis.” At the very least, that’s something!

Although a specific launch date has not been determined, the Picsart x Getty Images model is scheduled to be released later this year. Picsart’s application programming interface (API) services will make it available to users.
